Work Appropriate: Winter 2017

cover

“What to wear to work today?” is a question I ask myself every morning. I work in the Biotech industry and if any of you work in Biotech, you know that in terms of fashion, it’s not the most glamorous. I’m a firm believer in wearing what makes you happy, but when you work in an office setting, you need to find a balance between what makes you happy and what is work appropriate. I once wore a pair of faux leather culottes, and let’s just say, I received number of confused looks. Since then, I’ve found a way to wear outfits that I love while simultaneously avoiding weird stares. So, if you want to see how I dress for work, keep reading.

Although it’s been raining like crazy lately, I’ve been slowly gearing up for spring. I love this deconstructed trench coat because it has the silhouette of a traditional trench coat, but the lighter fabric and the slits up the sides make it more modern.

I like to keep my outfits pretty neutral and simple for work, so I paired my navy trench with a stripped mock neck top. I love this top because it’s a thicker cotton material, so even if it’s a bit chilly outside, it keeps me pretty warm.

To finish the outfit, I just slipped on a pair of my trusty black jeans with a side zipper detail and my go-to leather Vans.

What does your work outfit look like? Let me know!

Stay Chic!
