Slip Dresses and Velvet Booties

cover

It’s very rare that all of my current favorite pieces of clothing go together to make one complete outfit, but by some miracle, all the pieces I purchased on Black Friday fit together pretty seamlessly. I thought I demonstrated some self-control this Black Friday, but once I saw all the boxes laying on the floor, I realized that I had failed miserably. This outfit is a pretty good representation of all of my favorite purchases.

Now that it’s winter, it’s time to bust out those turtlenecks. For the longest time, I associated turtlenecks with “Things My Mom Wears,” which from the ages of 16 to 21 equaled “Things I Will Never Consider Wearing.” Now that I’m a bit older, I have come to realize that my mom, in fact, did know it all. Turtlenecks are great. They did get a bit of a re-vamp so now you have turtlenecks in various materials and styles. The possibilities are endless.

With all the sales going on, I couldn’t help myself but to dip my toes into some of the latest trends – slip dresses and velvet errything. I have been on the hunt for a slip dress and some velvet booties for a while now. One of my go-to websites is ASOS and when they were doing their 30% off everything for Black Friday, I went a little crazy. I got the app, and it was game over. I can spend hours on ASOS and find every possible trend at every price point. It’s amazing and scary at the same time. Needless to say, my wallet took a hit the second I typed in “asos.com.” Actually, I probably frequent the site so much I just needed to type the “a” and the website auto populated.

I’m really happy with the slip dress because it’s a thicker material and midi length, so it’s more practical for the colder months. My favorite purchase by far were the velvet booties. I have been on the hunt for navy velvet booties and these ones from ASOS, ticked all the boxes for me. They are extremely affordable and comfortable for a 4 inch heel. I wore them all day at work and my feet weren’t dying at the end of the day. The ASOS brand does not do half sizes, so if you’re in-between sizes, I recommend just purchasing two sizes. They do free returns, so don’t worry about being stuck with two of the same thing!

What are your favorite trends right now? Let me know!

Stay Chic!
