Fall is here, and that means changing up the skincare and makeup routine. I do like to switch things up in the skincare and makeup department every now and then because my skin changes based on the weather and who doesn’t like to spice up their makeup routine? It’s that time of the year to swap that nude lip for a vampy one!
The first product is the GlamGlow Brightening Treatment Mask. I’ve already dedicated a post to this mask so I won’t go into too much depth about it. This mask is great for year around use, but I especially love it for the fall and winter months when my skin can get kind of dull because this mask will scrub away all the dead skin and leave my face glowing again. If you want to read a full review on this mask, you can check out my post about it here.
Next up on the skincare routine is the Sunday Riley Good Genes Serum. Now this took me a while to warm up to because it’s really expensive so I only used it once or twice a week at night. I wasn’t seeing any difference using it so sporadically so I decided to bite the bullet and use it AM and PM. Now that I’m using it twice a day, I definitely see a difference in my the texture of my skin and it has really been helping my hyperpigmentation. This product is super pricey and it does not smell that pleasant, but it does really works, so I might have to repurchase once Sephora’s annual VIB sale comes around.
Now onto makeup!
I have never been a foundation wearer. Actually, up to this point of my life, I have never owned foundation. I normally stick to tinted moisturizer or just use concealer and powder. This past year, I had to attend a number of weddings and special events, so I decided to splurge on this Makeup Forever HD Foundation. I don’t use this all the time, but for special occasions or whenever I need my face to look extra flawless, I will whip this foundation out. It’s super lightweight, but still provides a light to medium coverage. The thing I like about this foundation is that the finish is not matte – it’s really dewy and natural looking.
Now, to get an extra glowy look, I like to use Becca’s Skin Perfector in Moonstone underneath my foundation. This is definitely an extra step, but if you want to give your finished makeup look a little omph, try adding a liquid highlight under your foundation or tinted moisturizer.
Eye makeup for me is always a “if I have the time/if I want to do it” step. I have a ton of eyeshadow palettes so I love switching my eye makeup routine. My current favorite is the Stila Eyes are the Window Palette in Soul. This palette is an unusual one for me because it’s a cool-toned palette and I am very much into warm-toned eyeshadows. The reason I really like this palette is that the eyeshadows are easy to work with and all the shadows work well together. The shadows are soft and pigmented, but they blend together really easily and nicely.
Hourglass is one of my favorite makeup brands. It is also a really pricey brand, but the quality you receive, I think it’s worth it. I like to buy their palettes over their individual products because, options. Also, I think the palettes are way more cost effective because you get a ton of product and don’t need to use too much, so a palette will last you a really long time. When Hourglass came out with their blushes, I wanted to try a number of them, but again, it’s a pricey product so I couldn’t just go out and buy all the ones I wanted. When they came out with this blush palette, I immediately scooped it up because I got to try 3 of their blushes at a great price. All the blushes in this palette are amazing. They are soft, pigmented, and make the cheeks absolutely glow! This product was limited edition, but if you wanted to try their blushes, I highly recommend them. My favorite is Mood Exposure. It’s versatile and goes with any makeup look.
Finally, onto the lips. The lips are probably what changes the most from summer to fall. During the summer, I was all about the nude-y pink/brown lip, but now that fall is in full swing, it’s time to bring out the matte vampy lips. I love a good matte lip. I don’t know how long the matte lip trend is going to last, but I am clinging on to it, hoping it never goes out of style. Liquid lipsticks are saturating the market right now, so it’s really easy to find a wallet friendly one. NYX’s Liquid Suede lipsticks are a great option if you’re not willing to shell out $20+ for a liquid lipstick. The finish of these lipsticks are a demi-matte. They don’t dry down to a fully matte finish -it’s more like a velvety finish. They will transfer, but they are SO COMFORTABLE. If you don’t like the way matte lipsticks dry out your lips, definitely try these out. They won’t break the bank and they come in a bunch of shades. My favorite for all is Vintage. It’s a dark burgundy red shade.
