A few weeks ago, my friend Marissa and I decided to try out Oakland’s Restaurant Week. We decided on alaMar Kitchen & Bar because they had a great tasting menu and they were one of the few restaurants that were open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Since I have only eaten in Oakland a handful of times, I didn’t really know what the crowd at alaMar was going to be so I decided on something that was casual, but still put together. This sweatshirt is perfect for a casual night, and the added crochet detail on the collar separates it from being just another navy blue sweatshirt. Since I knew I was going to be consuming a three-course meal, I wanted to wear some leggings and since this sweatshirt hits right at my hips, my solution to the problem was layering a longer tank underneath!

Also, the food at alaMar Kitchen & Bar was AMAZING! For my main entrée, I got the peel ‘n’ eat white gulf shrimp and it was delightful. If you like seafood, you will love this dish because it is so flavorful and it has just the right amount of spice. I would have taken a photo of it, but one, I don’t like to take pictures of my food, and two, this dish is definitely tastier than it looks. Plating a bowl of shrimp in a spicy broth is a hard task people.

Stay Chic!
