Catching Fire Premiere

Don’t worry, I won’t include any spoilers.

Ever since I bought my tickets a month ago, I have been waiting for this day to come.  Today is the day Catching Fire hit theaters and I got to see it at 8 PM today!  In spirit of the Hunger Games, a few of my friends decided to dress up.

I was intrigued by Effie’s Alexander McQueen’s butterfly dress and although I could not replicate the entire dress, I decided to use it as inspiration.

I was drawn to the butterfly collar that extended off the dress so I tried to replicate the design onto plain white t-shirt.  Since Effie does not lack any drama in her appearance, I made a butterfly head piece to accompany my shirt.

As for the makeup, I used the monarch butterfly as my inspiration. I used Urban Decay’s Primer Potion as a base and then a light orange, pumpkin color all over the lid – I used Coastal Scents’ Caramel (sample from IPSY). For the crease, I used reddish orange shadow from Urban Decay called Free Love. In the movie, Effie has defined light orange cheeks, so I used Revlon’s creme blush in Coral Reef and then layered Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blush in Blissful.

I think my friend would give Katniss a run for her money.

I apologize for the photo quality – I had to take pictures at the theater and the lighting was not great.

What were your thoughts on the movie? Let me know in the comments below.
