How to: Take a High-Low Dress from Day to Night

I can’t believe that June is coming to an end.  I have been so busy this summer that I have lost track of time.  During the week, I have class, work, and then maybe dinner out with friends.  Since I have such a busy schedule, I don’t have time to change outfits from day to night.  I’ve been trying to take pieces from my closet and style them to create an appropriate daytime and nighttime look.

In the summer, I live in dresses.  They are breathable and can easily be dressed up or down.  This season, I’ve been embracing the high-low dress trend. I took a simple navy high-low dress from Cotton On and made it into a casual daytime outfit and then a dressier nighttime outfit.

For the daytime,  I like to keep the outfit more neutral and casual.

Tote: J. Crew

For the nighttime, I use a look that is simple, yet sophisticated.  I normally keep everything on the dark side, but because it is summer, I like to add some color and make the whole outfit stand out.
