The Balm’s Nude’tude Nude Eyeshadow Palette: Review and Swatches

This has been the year of nude palettes, and let me tell you, I could not be happier.  Today’s post features The Balm’s Nude’tude Eyeshadow Palette.  I have been using this palette to create an everyday natural eye look as well as nighttime looks.

At first glance, I have to hand it to The Balm: they have the cutest, not to mention sleekest, packaging.  This palette is very straightforward.   It has a total of twelve shadows, a dual-sided eyeshadow brush, and a huge mirror, and that’s it.  I hate when companies have different compartments for a brush and a mirror–it just makes the product bulky and difficult to travel with.  This nude palette closes magnetically and comes with a sleeve so that the product will not accidentally open when traveling.  Although this palette is very simple, The Balm added a nice touch of artistry with 6 “naked” ladies that are covered up by the eyeshadows.

Moving on to the product itself, this palette consists of a nice mixture of light, medium, and dark shades, as well as a variety of shimmer and matte shades.  The quality of these shadows are on par with high end brands, such as Urban Decay.  They are extremely silky and super pigmented!  I think that the color selection in this palette is better than Urban Decay’s Naked Palette. The range of colors as well as the finish makes this the only palette you need if you want to create an everyday natural eye or even a smoky night time look.

Swatches (from left to right): Sassy, Snobby, Stubborn, Stand-ofish

Swatches: Selfish, Sultry, Sophisticated, Seductive, Sexy

Swatches: Silly, Serious, Sleek

Sassy: A white shimmery shade that is a great highlight for the brow bone as well as an inner corner color

Snobby: A shimmery golden, champagne color

Stubborn: A shimmery medium pink

Stand-offish: A pinky-peach shimmery shade.  A great all-over-the-lid shade or a highlight for the brow bone

Selfish: A medium shimmery taupe shade

Sultry: The perfect matte brown

Sophisticated: A medium brown with flecks of gold shimmer.  This is great for a crease color.  Use with Selfish and you’ll have a gorgeous everyday combo

Schizo: A shimmery gold-brown shade

Sexy: A matte plum color

Silly: Sparkly deep plum.  Has flecks of silver and pink shimmer.  Great crease color

Serious: A matte black

Sleek: A matte dark brown

The light and medium colors are great for daytime wear and the darker colors, Sexy, Serious, and Sleek, are all matte and double as an eyeliner.  Not all eyeshadows make appropriate eyeliners, but because these eyeshadows are so silky, they work beautifully.  These eyeshadows have a great color payoff.  For this palette, a little goes a long way.

This palette retails for $36 dollars, but I got mine on sale for $18 at Hautelook.  (You can order it here or wait for a sale on Hautelook)
