May was quite a busy month for me: I finished my junior year of college, went on a six-day road trip with my parents from California to Houston, moved into my house for the summer, started my job, and just finished my first summer course.
I decided to start monthly Hits and Misses because I have more time during summer to try out new beauty products and figure out if I like them or not. I just want to share some of the products I have been using and loving and ones that have not been working for me. Let’s get started!
When it comes to makeup, I like to keep it simple over the summer, so there are not a whole lot of products to write about.
For blush, I prefer creme blushes for the summer because they give a more dewy look. This NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Boho Chic gives a subtle flush to the cheeks, and the color stays on for hours. This blush is great for giving you a nice glow because it is a light pink with a little glitter. The glitter gives a nice sheen to the cheeks and will pick up the natural light. (you can find NYX products at Ulta)
I have really oily eyes, so I have to use a primer to prevent my shadow from creasing. I’ve currently been using Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray eye primer. It’s just a skin-toned primer that helps any eye shadow last the whole day.
Next, I usually like to use a light, shimmery peach-champagne shade and then some matte brown to tone down the shimmer. For the summer, I like to use a lot of browns and golds to achieve a more bronzy natural look. I’m currently loving the Balm’s Nude’tude palette. I use Stand-offish all over the lid and Sultry in the crease. From the palette, Stand-offish does seem like a shimmery pink color, but when you put it on your lids, it becomes peachier. (I don’t know where to find this palette, but I got mine at Hautelook)
I have really small eyes, so I make them look bigger with some eyeliner. I have finally found an eyeliner that is creamy, will last all day, and best of all, is cheap! I have been using the Milani Liquif’Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil in Brown. This pencil is really creamy and glides on beautifully, and you can get a really thin or thick line with it. (You can buy Milani products at any drugstore or Ulta store)
To look more awake, I dab a little of Benefit’s Eye Bright under my eyebrows and on my cheekbones. (you can find Benefit products here)
Here are swatches of everything I use:

I only use one product that I’m not liking: Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara. This mascara really didn’t work for me. It was very clumpy and didn’t last the whole day. When I put it on, I couldn’t see it, and it didn’t do anything special to my lashes, and by the end of the day, it was smudged all over my face.
That’s all for makeup. Moving on, I have finally been able to enjoy my iPad. I use the Kindle app to read books by the pool and when I’m lazing around on Saturday afternoons.
My favorite app this month is the Etsy app. I love the simple, unique handmade jewelry. Here is some that I am coveting:

Happy June everyone! Enjoy!
